What the grill rotisserie and back burner repair
involves.
A grill rotisserie is three parts working together: an electric motor that clips onto a bracket at one side of the hood, a spit rod that runs across the grill on a bushing at the far side, and on many grills an infrared back burner on the rear wall that roasts the turning meat from behind. The technician starts with what the owner sees. A motor that hums without turning, or turns and stalls under load, is tested off the grill and its cord and outlet checked, since the motor plugs into a weatherproof outlet or the grill's own power supply. A spit that grinds or drags is checked for a bent rod, a dry or worn bushing, forks set off balance, or a bracket that rust has pushed out of line. The back burner has its own valve, orifice and igniter, and it is lit and watched like any infrared burner: a quick catch and an even orange glow across the full width. Parts that failed are replaced with the maker's pieces, the spit is balanced, and the whole set runs under load for several minutes before the visit ends.
How the visit goesWhat it usually costsLow to moderate · Rotisserie motor, spit, bushing, or the rear infrared back burner
A bushing or a straight new spit is modest. A replacement rotisserie motor sits in the middle, and a back burner with its igniter and valve, fitted along the rear wall of the hood, is the fuller job.

The patio, the climate and the building all change how the grill rotisserie and back burner repair goes. These notes are about that, metro by metro.
All service areasTampa BayFL · 31 areas
Holiday turkeys and whole chickens keep Tampa Bay rotisseries turning, and humidity corrodes the motor's plug and bracket while the same damp reaches the back burner's igniter lead, so one visit checks both.
OrlandoFL · 30 areas
Orlando vacation homes list the rotisserie as a feature, and guests often leave the motor plugged in outdoors through a storm, so a motor that hums but will not turn the spit, or a back burner that keeps going out, is a frequent call there.
Miami / South FloridaFL · 47 areas
Salt air seizes a spit's bushings and corrodes the motor on South Florida grills, and the back burner behind it pits at its ports, so the repair frees the spit, tests the motor and watches the back burner's flame.
New York MetroNY · 75 areas
A New York terrace rotisserie is used a few weekends a year and spends the rest in a damp storage bin, so when it will not turn, the motor, its cord and the back burner's gas flow are checked together.
HoustonTX · 36 areas
Houston cooks run a rotisserie for hours in the heat, and a motor that stalls under a heavy roast or a back burner that goes out in the breeze is traced to the motor's gearing, its outlet and the back burner's ports.
ChicagoIL · 50 areas
Chicagoland's rotisserie season is brief, and a motor stored in a cold garage can gather condensation inside, so a spring repair tests the motor before the spit and checks the back burner for nests left over winter.
Los AngelesCA · 95 areas
Los Angeles grills turn rotisserie chicken in any month, so motor gears and back burner igniters wear sooner here, and the repair often replaces the motor and clears the back burner's ports in the same trip.
San DiegoCA · 31 areas
San Diego coastal grills lose rotisserie motors to damp and salt at the plug and the housing seam, while the back burner behind the spit rusts at its screen, and the visit checks both before any part is ordered.
San Francisco Bay AreaCA · 74 areas
On foggy Bay Area decks the back burner is the hardest one to keep lit, since wind reaches the back of the hood first, and a rotisserie that turns but browns unevenly usually points to that burner rather than the motor.
