Delta Heat grills,

Delta Heat builds one gas grill in 26, 32 and 38-inch widths, made in California since 2012 and now sold by Dometic next to Twin Eagles. Its G, R and RS versions differ by what sits beside the U-burners: an infrared rotisserie burner on the R and RS, and an infrared Sear Zone burner as standard on the RS. A Delta Heat freestanding base turns any of them into a cart grill.

What is particular
to Delta Heat.

We work on Delta Heat DHBQ26G, DHBQ32 and DHBQ38 grills in G, R and RS versions, including the black and white color models, built in or on the DHGB freestanding base. The R and RS rotisserie burner and the RS Sear Zone burner are serviced separately from the U-burners.

A spark igniter on a 9-volt battery

Delta Heat lights each burner with a push-and-turn spark from a 9-volt battery. Its troubleshooting table makes the battery the first check when there is no spark, and so do we.

A rotisserie burner that needs 30 seconds

The infrared rotisserie burner has a safety thermocouple, so the knob stays pushed in on High for 30 seconds after it lights. Its flame is hard to see in bright sun, which leads some owners to think it never lit.

Blue knob lights and halogen lamps

Blue LED lights sit behind the knobs and halogen lamps light the cooking surface, both fed through a transformer from a GFCI outlet. Halogen bulbs are changed with the grill unplugged and without bare fingers on the glass.

Wind from behind can cook the knobs

The grill draws air in at the front and vents at the rear, and wind from behind can trap heat at the control panel. Delta Heat excludes melted knobs and igniter wires from wind damage from its warranty, so we look at where the grill faces before replacing them.

Parts

Every part in the Delta Heat manual's exploded view carries a part number, down to the rotisserie burner's safety thermocouple. The model and serial are on the rear data plate and on a second label under the right side of the control panel.

Repair or replace

Delta Heat covers the main burners and the housing for the life of the grill, so most repairs are valves, igniters, briquette trays or lights, and they are worth doing. Heat damage from wind is excluded, so moving or shielding the grill should come before replacing parts that melted.

My Delta Heat igniter does not spark. What should I check first?
The 9-volt battery. Delta Heat's own troubleshooting says to replace it whenever the igniter stays silent, before looking at wires or the spark module.
Why will my Delta Heat rotisserie burner not stay lit?
Its safety thermocouple has to warm up, so keep the knob pushed in on High for 30 seconds after it lights before letting go. In strong sunlight the infrared flame is easy to miss, so check for heat before assuming it went out.
Why won't my Delta Heat thermometer reach high temperatures?
Delta Heat says to give the grill 15 minutes on high with the hood closed. If it still runs low, check for an empty propane tank or a kinked hose, then book a visit to have the orifices and air shutters checked.
Can wind damage a Delta Heat grill?
Yes. Wind blowing into the back can push heat forward until the control panel and knobs get very hot. Delta Heat advises not leaving the hood down for more than 15 minutes on high on breezy days and placing a windbreak behind the grill.
