What the grill cleaning and safety inspection
involves.
Most grill emergencies start in two places: grease that has built up where no one reaches, and insects and rust inside the gas path. A cleaning and safety inspection takes the grill apart as far as a repair would, but to prevent one. The technician removes grates, shields, briquettes, burners and the grease tray, scrapes the firebox and the hood of carbon and grease, and clears the grease path down to the cup. Each burner's venturi is brushed out of webs and nests and its ports opened, and each burner is looked at for early rust. The supply is inspected from the tank or shutoff through the regulator and hose to the manifold, and leak-checked with a detector or the maker's approved solution. The igniter's spark is watched at each burner, and on a pellet grill the firepot, auger tube and fan are cleared of ash and dust. Stainless is cleaned with the grain and treated where salt air or pool water has spotted it, and the cover is looked at for tears that hold water. Everything goes back in, each burner is lit, and you get a short note on what is wearing and when it might need work.
How the visit goesWhat it usually costsLowest · Deep cleaning of the firebox, burners and grease path, with a gas and spark safety check
A full take-down, cleaning and leak check of one grill is the smallest job on this list. Any burner, hose or igniter found failing during it is priced as its own repair, before any work is done.
