A large stainless built-in gas grill head set into a stone island on a sunny patio, its hood raised to show three burners glowing with even blue flame under clean stainless grates, the knob panel below with knobs, the access doors under the grill closed, plants softly blurred behind, daylight, seasonless.

Blaze grills,
specifically.

Blaze Outdoor Products sells gas grill heads in several lines, from the plain Builder Classic (BCM) through the Premium LTE+ and the LTE PRO to the heavier Professional LUX, and stainless carts turn most of them into freestanding grills. The bodies are 304 stainless, with one LTE+ built entirely in 316L for salt air. We start a Blaze call by naming the line, because ignition, lighting and burners change from one to the next.

Error codesBlaze publishes no error codes for its grills, including the LTE PRO with its digital temperature screen. What it shows instead is light: knobs that glow red while gas flows on the LTE+ and LTE PRO, and a power button that turns red when the LTE PRO panel is switched on.

Book with what the grill is doing and the model plate; the visit starts from the symptom.

What is particular
to Blaze.

We work on Blaze BCM, Premium LTE+ (including the Marine Grade model), LTE PRO and Professional LUX grill heads, built into an island or set on a Blaze cart. The line decides which burners, grates and knob parts fit, and the Professional's rear infrared rotisserie burner is a service item of its own.

A flame-thrower igniter with a flash tube behind it

Blaze heads light with a push-and-turn flame-thrower igniter at each valve, and flash tubes with crossovers give each burner a second way to catch. When a Blaze burner only lights from its neighbor, the primary igniter on that one valve is what we test first.

Knobs that glow red with the gas on

On the LTE+ the knob lights turn red when a knob is turned to a burner position, and the LTE PRO's LED control system glows red while its burners are on and gas is flowing. The glow and the interior lights run from a transformer, so dark knobs on a lit grill send us to power and wiring, not to the valves.

A powered screen on the LTE PRO

The LTE PRO adds a digital screen that reads the grill surface temperature and two meat probes, switched on by a button that turns red. It needs a GFCI-protected 15-amp circuit, and a blank screen is traced through that button, the outlet and the transformer.

One infrared burner, on the left only

The Blaze infrared burner replaces only the left-side standard burner, and Blaze warns against fitting more than one. Its ceramic tiles crack if the burner is jarred or flooded with marinade, so we check the tiles before blaming the gas supply for a weak sear.

Parts

Blaze prints an exploded view for each head, and knob LEDs, the LED assembly, the transformer and the flash tube appear there as separate parts. We match every part to the model and gas type on the rating label before ordering.

Repair or replace

Burners, igniters, knob lights and transformers are all replaceable on a Blaze, and a registered grill carries Blaze's lifetime limited warranty, so repair is the normal outcome. A firebox eaten through by salt air is where a new head, perhaps the 316L Marine Grade one, deserves a comparison.

Questions about
Blaze grills.

Why does my Blaze grill make a whooshing sound?
Blaze describes flashback as a whooshing, jet-like sound: fire burning around a burner tube that a spider or insect nest has blocked. Turn the burners off, close the gas at the tank or shutoff and step back. Once the grill is cold the burners come out for cleaning, and if flame reached the knobs, book a visit before lighting it again.
Can I put more than one infrared burner in my Blaze?
No. Blaze sells its infrared burner to replace only the left-side burner and says that fitting more than one can damage the grill's structure, with no warranty cover for that damage.
My Blaze LTE PRO screen is dark. What should I check?
The panel has its own power button on the lower right side wall of the control panel, and it glows red when power is on. The grill also has to be plugged into a GFCI-protected 15-amp circuit. If both are fine and the screen stays dark, the transformer and wiring are next, and that is a visit.
How long should the Blaze infrared burner preheat?
Blaze asks for three minutes on high even when the rest of the grill is already hot, and no food over it until then. After cooking, it recommends five to seven minutes on high with the lid open to burn off drippings.
