Weber E18: the cookbox temperature has dropped

The controller raises E18 when heat drops away from the set point, most often because the lid has been open, wind is pulling heat out, or the pellets are low or poor.

What to do when E18 shows on the grill

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Weber's own guidance for E18 on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press the dial to dismiss the notification and close the lid.

02

Check the pellet level and quality; a fresh pellet should snap cleanly rather than crumble.

03

Open the lid briefly to make sure nothing is blocking the temperature sensor inside the cookbox.

04

If you need to cook with the lid open often, switch to Manual Mode so the grill holds a steady feed rather than overcorrecting.

Questions
about E18.

Can I clear E18 myself?
Press the dial to dismiss the notification and close the lid. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Weber show E18 every time I open the lid?
An open lid dumps heat and the controller notices the drop. Keep the lid closed, or use Manual Mode for cooks where you need to open it often.
Can wind cause E18 on my Weber Searwood?
Yes. Strong wind pulls heat from the cookbox, and Weber suggests turning the grill so its vents face away from the wind.
Should I worry if E18 appears once on a cold day?
One E18 on a cold or windy day is normal. If it keeps coming back in calm weather with good pellets, have the feed and the sensor checked.

Still showing E18?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
