What E11
actually means.

The glow plug sits at the bottom of the burn pot and heats red to light each cook. E11 is raised when it draws no power or cannot heat, which can be a loose terminal on its mounting bracket, a loose plug at the board or a glow plug that has burned out.

What to do when E11 shows on the grill

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Weber's own guidance for E11 on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Let the grill shut down and cool, then unplug it.

02

Start the grill at 400°F and look into the burn pot from a safe distance to see whether the glow plug glows; do not touch it or reach in.

03

If it stays dark, shut the grill down from the controller.

04

Book a visit to check the glow plug wiring and fit a new glow plug.

Questions
about E11.

Can I clear E11 myself?
Let the grill shut down and cool, then unplug it. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How can I tell if my Weber glow plug is working?
Set the grill to 400°F and look at the bottom of the burn pot as it preheats. A working glow plug turns orange; never touch it to check.
Can I light my Weber pellet grill by hand while waiting for a new glow plug?
It is not worth the risk. Dropping lit material into a burn pot that the controller is feeding pellets into can flare up, so wait for the new glow plug.
Does a new glow plug fix E11 every time on a Weber?
Usually, but a loose terminal on the mounting bracket or a loose plug at the board shows the same code, so those are checked first.

Still showing E11?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
