What E7
actually means.

Where E1 is an auger that is stuck, E7 is a motor the controller cannot run at all. The first suspect is the wire clip at the motor or at the circuit board, and if both are tight the motor itself has likely failed.

What to do when E7 shows on the grill

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Weber's own guidance for E7 on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Let the grill finish its shutdown and cool, then unplug it.

02

Plug it back in and start a cook so the controller can retest the motor.

03

If the code returns, stop using the grill and book a visit to check the motor wiring and replace the motor if needed.

What not to do

E7 is an electrical or motor problem, not a jam of pellets in the tube, which is E1. It is also not a fan problem, which is E2.

Questions
about E7.

Can I clear E7 myself?
Let the grill finish its shutdown and cool, then unplug it. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can an auger jam turn into E7 on my Weber?
A motor that strains against a hard jam can fail. Clearing the jam early after an E1 protects the motor.
Does E7 on a Weber mean the controller is bad?
Usually not. A loose plug at the motor or the board is checked first, then the motor, and the controller is suspected only after both test good.
Can I feed pellets by hand to finish a cook with E7?
No. The grill shuts down on E7, and hand-feeding pellets into a hot burn pot is a burn and fire risk.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
