What Overheat Alarm
actually means.
Each Coyote pellet grill has a top temperature set by its size, and the controller alarms when the grill runs past it. The manual links high heat to grease buildup, to too many pellets in the burner pot at start-up, and to using the sear grate outside Sear Mode.

What to do when Overheat Alarm shows on the grillKind of codeTemperature and probes
A probe is sending the controller a reading it cannot trust, or no reading at all: the grill's own temperature sensor coated in smoke and grease, its lead pinched or melted, or a meat probe unplugged, wet or reading far outside what any cook box could reach. The grill then overshoots, stalls or shuts down to be safe. Wiping the sensor once the grill is cold and reseating the probe in its jack are reasonable steps; a sensor that still reads wrong is a visit.

Shows up asGrill Error Code on a Pellet Controller or Digital Panel
A grill error code shows as letters and numbers on a pellet grill controller, a flashing light on a digital control panel, or an alert in the maker's app paired with the grill.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Coyote's own guidance for Overheat Alarm on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
If grease is burning, keep the lid closed if you can do it safely and never use water; if the fire spreads, move away and call 911.
Otherwise press the red stop icon and let the full cooldown cycle run.
Once the grill is cold, clean the drip trays and heat shield, take the sear grate out unless you cook in Sear Mode, and book a visit if the alarm returns on a clean grill at a normal setting.

What not to do
The alarm concerns the grill chamber, not the meat probes, which only report the food. It is not a sign of a broken controller either; a grill with a greasy tray that reads 700°F is very likely that hot.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
