What E2
actually means.

The fan pushes air into the burn pot to keep the pellets burning and to hold temperature. With E2 the controller has found the fan not turning or not drawing power, which usually points to a loose wire clip, pellets caught in the blades or a failed fan motor.

What to do when E2 shows on the grill

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Weber's own guidance for E2 on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Let the grill finish its shutdown with the lid closed, then unplug it once it is fully cool.

02

Check around the hopper base for spilled pellets that could have reached the fan guard.

03

Plug back in and start a cook; the controller retests the fan within about 30 seconds.

04

If E2 is still on the screen, book a visit to open the maintenance panel, check the fan plug and replace the fan if it has failed.

What not to do

E2 is about air, not fuel; a grill that lost its fire because pellets stopped arriving shows E3 or E19 instead. It is also not a probe or temperature reading problem, which Weber numbers E8 and E17.

Questions
about E2.

Can I clear E2 myself?
Let the grill finish its shutdown with the lid closed, then unplug it once it is fully cool. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why did my Weber pellet grill show E2 right after I moved it?
Moving a grill can shake loose the wire clip on the fan or tip pellets into the fan guard. Both are among the first things Weber has owners check for E2.
Is it safe to keep cooking on my Weber with E2?
No. Without the fan the burn pot cannot burn cleanly, which is why E2 shuts the grill down rather than letting you dismiss it.
Does E2 on a Weber always mean a new fan?
Not always. A clip that has worked loose or pellets jamming the blades clear up without parts; the fan is replaced only when it still will not run once those are ruled out.

Still showing E2?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
