What Low Temp Alarm
actually means.

During a cook the Coyote controller watches for the grill temperature to drop by 50°F. When it does, the alarm comes up, and unless the continue button is pressed the grill goes into shutdown. Coyote's own list of causes is a pellet jam, a burner pot that is out of position, and the timeout set for the alarm in the menu.

What to do when Low Temp Alarm shows on the grill

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Coyote's own guidance for Low Temp Alarm on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Look in the hopper first and top it up with dry pellets if it is running low.

02

If the fire is still burning, press continue and watch whether the temperature climbs back.

03

If the grill shuts down, let it cool completely, unplug it and follow the manual's jam steps under the hopper grate and auger cover; book a visit if the alarm returns with a clear auger and a correctly placed pot.

What not to do

This alarm reports a fire that has faded, not a failed sensor, and it is the opposite of the Overheat Alarm. A grill that keeps its fan running after you pressed stop is in its normal cooldown, not shutting down on this alarm.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. The C2P manual gives the shutdown after 22 minutes in its settings section but a default timeout of five minutes in its troubleshooting table, so check the value in your grill's settings menu. On the older C1P grills the same drop brings up a temperature warning screen with the same 22-minute window.

Questions
about Low Temp Alarm.

Can I clear Low Temp Alarm myself?
Look in the hopper first and top it up with dry pellets if it is running low. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Coyote pellet grill shut off in the middle of a cook?
The low temperature alarm has run out without an answer. Coyote points to three causes: the alarm timeout set in the menu, a burner pot out of position, and a pellet jam.
Can I make the Coyote Low Temp Alarm less sensitive?
The settings menu lets you adjust it, but a longer timeout only hides the cause. If the fire keeps fading, pellets are not reaching the burner pot and that is what needs fixing.
How do I clear a pellet jam on a Coyote?
With the grill off and unplugged, remove the hopper grate and the auger cover with a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the jammed pellets, vacuum the auger and chute, and refit both covers. If jams keep returning, book a visit to have the auger checked.

Still showing Low Temp Alarm?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
