What Igniter failed to start
actually means.
SmartGrill heads light their burners with glowing hot-surface igniters rather than a spark. This message means the controller did not see the igniter for the named burner come up to heat, and it shuts that burner down instead of letting unburned gas flow.

What to do when Igniter failed to start shows on the grillKind of codeIgnition
The grill tried to start its fire and the controller never saw it take. On a pellet grill that is usually a hot rod burned out after hundreds of cooks, or a firepot full of ash so the new pellets smother; on a gas grill with electronic ignition it is a spark module, an electrode cracked or set too far from the burner, or a battery gone flat. Emptying the ash once the grill is cold and fitting a fresh battery are fair first steps; the hot rod and the module are a visit.
Usually leads toGrill igniter repair
No spark, a weak spark or a spark in the wrong place: the grill's battery module, piezo button, electrodes, wires and hot-surface igniters tested and fixed.
Shows up asGrill Error Code on a Pellet Controller or Digital Panel
A grill error code shows as letters and numbers on a pellet grill controller, a flashing light on a digital control panel, or an alert in the maker's app paired with the grill.

A Lynx grill visit opens with the lid raised and every burner lit once, so the tech sees which ports burn blue and which ones sputter.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Lynx's own guidance for Igniter failed to start on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Turn every burner off and check that the gas shutoff or tank valve is open.
Wait five minutes so any gas in the firebox clears before you try that burner again.
Lift a grate and watch the igniter for about a minute with the knob on; if it never glows orange, stop there and book a visit so the igniter and its wiring can be tested.
What not to do
This is not the same as a burner that lit and then went out, which SmartGrill reports as no flame or failed to stabilize. It also does not mean the whole grill has lost power, because the knob lights and the voice would be silent in that case.
