What Red flame icon
actually means.
When you press the green start button, the Coyote controller replaces it with a red flame icon while the igniter heats the pellets in the burner pot. By default the igniter stays on for five minutes, and once the fire has taken the flame turns into a red stop icon, which tells you the grill is ready.

What to do when Red flame icon shows on the grillKind of codeMode, not a failure
Nothing on the grill has failed; the controller is showing a state it was put in on purpose. A shutdown cycle keeps the fan running to burn off the last pellets before the grill goes quiet, a keep-warm setting holds the cook box low, a demo mode lights the display without feeding fuel, and a pairing screen waits for a phone to connect. No part is needed; the button sequence in the manual, or simply letting the cycle finish, returns it to normal.
Usually leads toNo repair
Keep the lid closed and let the start run; smoke within the first three to five minutes is expected.
Shows up asGrill Error Code on a Pellet Controller or Digital Panel
A grill error code shows as letters and numbers on a pellet grill controller, a flashing light on a digital control panel, or an alert in the maker's app paired with the grill.

On a Coyote call, the tech clears the firebox of grease and debris before judging a weak burner, since a clogged tray can mimic a gas problem.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Coyote's own guidance for Red flame icon on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Keep the lid closed and let the start run; smoke within the first three to five minutes is expected.
Wait for the flame to change into the red stop icon before putting food on.
If the flame stays and the grill never warms, press stop, let the grill cool completely, check that the burner pot is seated correctly and free of old pellets and ash, and try one more start; book a visit if that start fails too.
Cleared?
The code is gone from the controller, the grill climbs to its set heat and holds it through a full cook, the pellets keep dropping and the probe readings stay believable, all without a new part. If the same code comes back within a week, or after the next rain, mention it when you book.
What not to do
The red flame is a progress marker, not a warning, and there is nothing to clear while it shows. A grill that sits on the flame icon without heating is a different problem, most often a pellet jam or a burner pot out of place.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
