Who writes
the guides.

The grill pages here come from the crew that drives out when a booking arrives, to decks, pool patios, balconies and rooftop terraces. A subject earns a page once the same complaint keeps coming in: burners that click without catching, a flame that shrinks to a flicker on a full tank, one half of the grate searing while the other half barely warms, a pellet grill whose fire starves mid-smoke, or a rotisserie spit that sits still.

Each page rests on grills we have taken apart ourselves, grates lifted, heat shields out with a work light aimed at each valve and venturi. A code on a grill display is explained only after its maker has printed what it means. Sentences built on a manual link to that manual; sentences built on our own service calls are marked as field notes from our crew.

Grill won't light? Silent igniter, dry burner or a tank that never opened

How a guide
is written.

Four rules every guide on this site follows, from the first question to the last revision.

01

Picked from what owners report at the grill

Subjects track the phrasing grill owners give our booking line, and every guide opens with safe first moves: the lid up, the tank valve checked, a fresh igniter battery, the grease tray emptied and the regulator reset the way its maker describes.

02

Checked against the makers' own papers

Lighting sequences, gas conversions, cleaners a maker allows on its stainless, pellet grill shutdown steps and the meaning of any controller message all come from manufacturer documents, and each line that leans on one names it.

03

Gas, grease and flame limits

Every guide keeps the same limits. If you smell gas near the grill or its tank: knobs off, close the tank valve or the gas shutoff, leave the lid open, keep flame away and step back; should the smell stay, phone the gas utility or 911 once well away from the grill. A grease blaze gets the gas turned off and never water. Flames behind the knobs mean the gas goes off at the source and everyone steps away. Our grill pages never send an owner to loosen a gas fitting, pull a valve, check for leaks using a lit match or put a hand into a hot pellet firepot.

04

Two dates on every grill page

Each guide carries its first publication date beside its newest edit date, and the edit date advances whenever a maker reissues a manual we rely on.

Questions about
the guides.

Who writes the grill repair guides here?
Our own grill technicians, the same crew booked for service calls. What they find at burners, igniters, regulators and pellet augers is checked against the maker's documents wherever those are published.
Does a grill maker sponsor these guides?
No. Our grill repair outfit is independent; grill makers neither fund these pages nor preview a draft.
How can I report an error in a grill guide?
Send it through our contact form with the page address and the sentence in question. If it turns out to be wrong, we correct the line and move the page's revision date forward.
