The digital controller on the side of a pellet grill's hopper on a patio, its small display lit with no characters readable, the grill's lid closed and a thin trace of smoke at the chimney.

Broil King check mark: a meat probe reached its target and the grill dropped to 225°F

When you set a target for meat probe 1 or 2, the controller watches it.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Broil King's own guidance for Check mark on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the food: the check mark means it has reached the target you set.

02

If you want to keep cooking hotter, set a new grill temperature with the dial or arrows.

03

If the check mark lights before the food is done, test it with a separate thermometer; book a visit if a probe keeps reading wrong.

Cleared?

The code is gone from the controller, the grill climbs to its set heat and holds it through a full cook, the pellets keep dropping and the probe readings stay believable, all without a new part. If the same code comes back within a week, or after the next rain, mention it when you book.

What not to do

The check mark is not the warning icon and does not mean the fire went out. A drop to 225°F right after it lights is Broil King's hold setting, not a feed problem.

What you may
notice with it.

The grill problems Check mark tends to arrive with. Answer these at the grill before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Nothing on the grill has failed; the controller is showing a state it was put in on purpose. A shutdown cycle keeps the fan running to burn off the last pellets before the grill goes quiet, a keep-warm setting holds the cook box low, a demo mode lights the display without feeding fuel, and a pairing screen waits for a phone to connect. No part is needed; the button sequence in the manual, or simply letting the cycle finish, returns it to normal.

Questions
about Check mark.

Can I clear Check mark myself?
Check the food: the check mark means it has reached the target you set.
Why did my Broil King pellet grill drop to 225°F by itself?
A meat probe reached the target you set, so the controller lit the check mark and switched to a 225°F hold. Set a higher grill temperature if you want to keep cooking hot.
Can I stop my Broil King from dropping to 225°F when the probe is done?
The manual describes the hold as what happens when the probe target is reached. Not setting a probe target, or resetting the grill temperature afterward, keeps you in control.
My Broil King check mark lit, but the meat is underdone. What is wrong?
The probe may be touching bone or fat, or sitting near the surface. Move it to the thickest part and check with a second thermometer before suspecting the probe.

Back to your everyday

Still showing Check mark?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied exactly, the model and serial from the rating label, and a word on whether the grill still lights, heats or feeds pellets. With those three the office can match the likely part to your grill the same day.
