Battery Park City covers 92 acres of state-owned land on the Hudson waterfront, and 36 of those acres are parkland. ## What Battery Park City does to a grill. Most of its residences sit in three southern sections: the Gateway Plaza high-rise complex, Rector Place and Battery Place. Hurricane Sandy in October 2012 drove a wall of water into southeastern New York from New York Harbor, the water that borders Battery Park City. A high-rise balcony here is off-limits for charcoal, while an electric grill stays legal on balconies, terraces and roofs. [All of New York Metro](https://bbqgrillrepair.center/locations/new-york/) ### Tower living Many fire codes and condo rules keep gas and charcoal grills off apartment balconies, so grilling in a tower usually happens at shared amenity-deck grills piped to natural gas, and with so many users their knobs, igniters and grates wear out on a short cycle. ### Newer developments Association rules in planned developments may set where a grill and its tank can stand and how far from the house, and a repair that moves the grill or re-pipes its gas is planned around those rules from the start. ### On the water Salt from ocean or bay air settles on a grill every day and pits its stainless within a season, so near salt water the hood hinges, burner ports and igniter electrodes are inspected first, and a fresh-water rinse once it cools is the habit that helps most. ## A visit in Battery Park City.
