Holding the red lock icon in the lower left corner for three seconds turns it green and shows UNLOCK, and then the temperature and start button respond. A shutdown cycle keeps the fan running to burn off the last pellets before the grill goes quiet, a keep-warm setting holds the cook box low, a demo mode lights the display without feeding fuel, and a pairing screen waits for a phone to connect. Each step comes from Coyote's own guidance for UNLOCK on its grills. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Hold the red lock icon for a full three seconds instead of tapping it. 02 Look for the icon to turn green with the word UNLOCK, then set your temperature. 03 If the screen still ignores you, or stays blank while the power button is lit, switch off, unplug for a minute and try again; book a visit if the display still does not answer. ### Cleared? The code is gone from the controller, the grill climbs to its set heat and holds it through a full cook, the pellets keep dropping and the probe readings stay believable, all without a new part. If the same code comes back within a week, or after the next rain, mention it when you book. ### What not to do A locked screen is not a frozen controller, and nothing is wrong with the grill. Hold the red lock icon for a full three seconds instead of tapping it. ### Why won't my Coyote pellet grill respond when I tap the temperature? The display locks itself each time the grill powers up. Hold the red lock icon for three seconds until it turns green, then tap the temperature digits to bring up the keypad. ### Is the Coyote settings password the same as the screen lock? No. The lock icon only guards the main screen, while the settings menu asks for a four-digit system password that is 1234 from the factory. If it was changed and forgotten, the manual gives no reset, so book a visit. ### Where is the power button on a Coyote pellet grill? On the left side of the control panel, and it glows orange while the grill has power.
